한지수는 생황과 피리, 태평소 등 한국 전통 관악기를 기반으로 활동하는 연주자이자 작곡가, 기획자이다. 악보와 즉흥, 전통과 실험, 소리와 신체 사이를 오가며 악기의 고유한 음향을 동시대의 감각으로 확장한다. 특히 소리가 공간과 관계 맺는 방식, 연주자의 호흡과 신체가 음악이 되는 과정에 관심을 두고 작업해왔다.

전통음악의 어법을 바탕으로 독주와 앙상블, 전자음악, 사운드 퍼포먼스 등 다양한 형식의 작품을 발표하고 있다. 국립현대미술관과 서울시립미술관의 전시 연계 공연을 비롯해 시각예술가, 안무가, 사운드 아티스트 등 여러 분야의 창작자들과 협업해왔다. ‘한지수류 생황산조’ 연주 영상은 2025년 프랑스 필하모니 드 파리(Philharmonie de Paris) 음악박물관(Musée de la musique)에 소장되어 상설 전시되고 있다.

아랍에미리트(UAE) 대통령 방한 당시 청와대 영빈관에서 생황 독주를 맡았으며, 국립부여박물관 전시 음악 제작과 넷플릭스 영화 《전,란》의 음악 녹음에 참여했다. 또한 유럽과 아시아의 공연 및 학술 프로그램에 참여하며 전통악기를 매개로 한 공동 연구와 창작을 이어가고 있다.

예술단체 생황방앗간의 설립자이자 예술감독으로서 아시아 창작자들의 교류와 공동 창작을 기획하고 있다. 서울대학교와 한국예술종합학교에서 생황 특강을 진행하고 국립국악고등학교와 국립전통예술고등학교에서 강의했으며, 국가무형유산 종묘제례악과 피리정악 및 대취타 전수자로 전통음악의 연주와 계승을 이어가고 있다.

Jisu Han is a performer, composer, and arts producer whose practice is rooted in traditional wind instruments, including the saenghwang, piri, and taepyeongso. Moving between score and improvisation, tradition and experimentation, and sound and the body, she expands the distinctive sonic qualities of these instruments through a contemporary sensibility. Her work is particularly concerned with how sound relates to space and how the performer’s breath and body become part of the music itself.

Drawing on the musical language of Korean tradition, Han works across a range of forms, including solo and ensemble performance, electronic music, and sound performance. She has presented performances in conjunction with exhibitions at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea, and the Seoul Museum of Art, while collaborating with visual artists, choreographers, sound artists, and creators from various disciplines. A performance video of 〈Jisu Han-ryu Saenghwang Sanjo〉 was acquired by the Musée de la musique at the Philharmonie de Paris in 2025 and is now on permanent display.

Han performed a saenghwang solo at the Blue House State Guest House during the state visit of the President of the United Arab Emirates. She has also composed music for an exhibition at the Buyeo National Museum and participated in the music recording for the Netflix film 《Uprising》. Through performances and academic programs across Europe and Asia, she continues to pursue collaborative research and creative projects centered on traditional instruments.

As the founder and Artistic Director of Saenghwang Bangatgan, Han develops international exchange and collaborative creation among artists across Asia. She has given guest lectures on the saenghwang at Seoul National University and the Korea National University of Arts, and has taught at the National Gugak High School and the National High School of Traditional Korean Arts. She is also a transmission practitioner of the nationally designated intangible cultural heritage traditions of Jongmyo Jeryeak, Piri Jeongak, and Daechwita, continuing her engagement with the performance and transmission of Korean traditional music.
